Can it be.

I have a little question, can you be bummed and yet happy at the same time? I say yes because I am right now. Got an e-mail yesterday from JOY FM saying that the fellow who last year did the color commentating for the football games had his work schedule changed so now he has Friday nights open. Long story short he will now be taking over the board for the football games for the rest of the season except for the last game. Its a bummer because I really like doing that and this year was going to be fun with the little half-time show I started last week but now I'll wait until Oct. 24th when we end the season. I'm waiting to see if he will schedule the rest of us for the 10 o'clock hour and the music portion or if I'll be on hiatus for a bit. Now while this is a bummer I am also happy because I was thinking the other day of how I missed those Friday night shopping nights with Tammy and the kids where we would come in and maybe eat supper here in Muncie and then go grocery shopping or whatever. Now I'm looking forward to doing that again.

It was one of those days

Didn't notice until I was at work for a few hours that for some unknown reason I wore a blue sock and a black sock yesterday. Oh well I don't go by sock color anyway, I go by thickness.

I was a part of history

Last night I was just a small part of history, I attended the first ever Monroe Central football game. It was pretty cool especially since we won 46-6 over Union City. It was cool to watch the game and see some of the kids from the Teshuva out there playing. And speaking of the Teshuva there were quite a few of those kids who were playing in the band and I must say they did a great job with the National Anthem, one of those happened to be Taylor. It was just a good evening all around and I'll be back out there at the next game. There are a few little things that I think still need to be done out there but this is going to be cool.

Forgot something

Be on the lookout for the "Mad Volleyballer". He was having a bad hair day and was a bit perturbed with his play, he is considered dangerous and in need of some hair tips. Approach with caution and styling advice.

The weekend that was

Yesterday was a good and fun day hanging out with the FFC peeps pretty much all day, church, picnic, and youth. I've really enjoyed this My Marriage Stinks series, it has been one that has opened my eyes in some new light and I hope that what was learned will be put to practice now. My brother and sister in law have made it to church for the entire series and I hope that they continue to come out each week, I know they won't be there this weekend as they and Tammy and the kids will be a couple of states south of here for a family reunion, I'll be home working. I am excited about the upcoming series and I really think after hearing what it will be about that there will be some lives changed these next 4 weeks, its gonna be cool.

The picnic/baptism was cool, good food, good company, and seeing people express their faith by getting baptized, including my Dad. It has been amazing seeing his transformation over the past few months and I'm excited to see where his journey takes him. Youth was fun, played a little volleyball and am paying for it this morning with some aches and pains but it was all good. Ready for the day at work to end to go and check out the MC football team and that will be fun.
Here is the list of yesterdays songs:

How Awesome Is The Lord Most High - Chris Tomlin (its no secret I'm not a big Tomlin fan, but this is one of my favorite songs to play period, especially when the chorus comes around and you look out and see all those hands raised, wow)
Holy Is The Lord - Chris Tomlin
The Solid Rock - Edward Mote (never heard this before and it was a bit tricky but we pulled it off)
Your Love Oh Lord - Third Day (one of my favorite Third Day songs)
Jesus, Draw Me Close / All In All - Rick Founds/Vinyard
Majesty - Jack Hayford
Prince Of Peace - Micheal W. Smith (oldie but a goodie, I remember all those see who can be louder the men or women contests on the chorus)

Back in the swing of things.

Last night went pretty good at the station, all my nerves were dashed as I luckily remembered all I needed to and things went off without a hitch. It was fun to do that again, the only bad thing of the night was the team that we are covering all season, Arcanum, got beat 69-0. Ok they didn't get beat they got crushed. We have like 9 or 10 spots to use during the game and they want you to use them all at least twice a game. By halftime I had used each spot 3 TIMES, and added another 2 times in the second half. I did something different this year, I do a small halftime show. I talked a little sports, football and olympics, then played some music, came back and talked a little baseball and NASCAR then played more music before the start of the second half. Did a 40 minute version of SRF after the game and I must say it rocked the house and then some. Ready to do it all again next Friday night.

Song list for SRF
Since October - Disaster (fitting song for the Arcanum team because thats what this game was)
Homeless J - B-Fly
TFK - Absolute
Decemberadio - Better Man
Stryper - The Rock That Makes Me Roll
Ilia - This Is Only The Beginning
Anberlin - There Is No Mathematics To Love and Loss
Kutless - The Feeling
Inhabited - Open My Eyes
Alife Echoed - Can You Feel It
Newsboys - Shine

And so it begins....

Tonight is opening night for high school football on JOY FM and I'll be at the controls on the board for all of the games this season while Ryan Gathard will be at the games doing the play by play. I have never actually met Ryan but just be talking to him on the phone before I get everything set up for the game he seems like a pretty cool dude. I'm excited and nervous at the same time, excited because I like doing things over at the station and really enjoy it, and nervous because doing ball games is a bit different than remotes and other things I do there and I just hope to remember all I've learned. Also during half-time I'll probably do a little something for a small half-time show and after the game I'll be doing an abridged version of Solid Rock Friday Night until 11 so come join me. This means that it has been almost 1 year of working over there on a constant basis which has been very enjoyable.

It also means that it has been almost one year since Tammy's mom passed away. I don't know what tomorrow will bring for her as it will mark one year and I know that she misses her a whole bunch. One year ago last night was the last time I saw her and it is a memory that is etched in my mind and I will keep it there forever. We had just got our new computer and had taken them our old one and something wasn't working quite right so I stopped over there after work and helped get it up and running. As I was leaving she came over and gave me a big hug and we told each other that we loved one another. That was something that we rarely did and that is what makes that memory such a special one. God Bless You JoNell.

Watch out

If your in Muncie in the next few days and then for about the next 9 or 10 months, BSU is back. I have noticed that traffic has really picked up here on the northwest side of town and unfortunately some of these students obviously don't know how to drive or don't pay attention while driving. Confussion is reigning here as they are trying to learn how to get from point A to point B and changing lanes suddenly and doing crazy things while driving are now a common place. The funny thing is that alot of times after they do something like this they look at you like your the one who drives like a maniac. So just a little heads up. Man I sound like an old man "stay off my yard."

Just a bit behind

Last night we figured since summer is quickly coming to a close that it would be a good time to finally go air up the tires on our bikes so we could enjoy them. Yeah I know August is 2/3 over and we are just now getting the bikes out, hey next week we might go buy a pool to enjoy during the summer, not. I found out that stuff I used to do as a youngster I can no longer do or struggle at, as an example we have 4 bikes but only 3 of us went up to air up the tires meaning that I walked 2 of the bikes up there, no problem. Now on the way back home I tried to ride my bike while holding on to the other one which worked for like the first 30 or 40 seconds then the other bike became possesed and starting going where ever it wanted to. I did not wreck but came close a couple of times then I figured hey walking them together was easy let's try that again. Now I know that I've done that before, riding one and pulling another along, but I mightly struggled last night, what part of it did I forget? Oh well at least I didn't wreck. Now maybe tonight I'll get the bike out and ride a bit, thought about riding this morning at 4:30 but sleep won out on that one, maybe tomorrow, right.

Anything?

Ever have one of those days where you have nothing? Thats what I feel today, I don't have anything, nothing, nada, zilch, zippo, the big goose egg. I'm sure later I think "man I should have posted that" but right now I haven't got anything. I'm listening right now to Perry Noble and one of his messages in the You Asked For It series they just had. Maybe something will come out of that. Who knows.

Rockin weekend

What an enjoyable weekend we just had, got to rock out at a show, play alot of rock on the radio and hang out with some cool people. Had alot of fun Friday night at the radio with Zach, then after work on Saturday went home for a quick nap then off to the Winchester Pool to hang out with some of the youth kids at Hailee Martins 16th birthday party. I still can't believe that my kids both love to go off the diving board and have alot of fun swimming, me I swim like a rock and yes it does make me a bit nervous to see them go off the diving board but they are both pretty good swimmers. Yesterday was another good message at church and it was centering around one of my favorite books of the bible Ephesians. Music was fun yesterday and then after church went to Arby's where we had a good lunch with alot of our FFC church family. It was good to see both Abby and Joey having alot of fun. After a quick trip home and a brief rest it was back to Winchester to check out Ilia and a couple of other bands which now brings the band total up to 132 bands that I can remember. Got to hang out with them for a few moments and hung out with a fellow named Neff who played with Hyland at the Locked and Loaded show last Friday at FFC. Good weekend now back to it I guess.

Sunday Song List:
Not To Us - Chris Tomlin
Everlasting God - Lincoln Brewster
Let Everything That Hath Breath - Matt Redman
2 Corinthians 5:17 - Daniel Baker (this one has odd timing that is easy to go too fast and too slow at the same time if that makes any sense)
Clean Hands - Charlie Hall
Wonderful Cross - Micheal W. Smith
Grace Like Rain - Todd Agnew ( I enjoy playing this one)

Where did those come from

Well after a FEW WEEKS, the videos I tried to post to the old blog here finally decided to show up all of the sudden and a couple of each one so I had to do a little editing. Still I hope you got to check them out. Last night was pretty cool, played alot of songs by alot of artists and got alot of phone calls. Even had a request by text. Had like 5 requests from Bryant, IN that town must rock, they said they listen every week. I don't know if they were all together or just alot of people in Bryant listen to SRF. We had over 10 calls for requests and there was a time where as soon as I hung up the other line was ringing, cool. Zach did a great job last night and seemed to enjoy himself so that's good. Thanks to all those who listened and next week is football with an abriviated version of SRF afterwards. The only bad thing of last night is getting home close to midnight and of course I'm all jacked up and couldn't get to sleep til after 1 am and had to get up at 5 to be here at work at 6 am. I'm so ready for a nap.

Love Song by Third Day with lyrics

This song is about how crazy God is for us and what he'll do to be with us.

Danny Way Big Air Contest Crash X Games 14 2008

The X Games have started and we always enjoy watching them. I think these guys are amazing but I also think that the are totally insane. This dude not only wiped out here he wiped out again later then got up went back up there and did his trick and got the silver. They also had Moto X best trick last night and those guys doing back flips with dirt bikes and all the other stuff is just crazy but I love it. You would never catch me doing any of these but I love to watch them, I'll be watching again tonight as they have the BMX bikes doing the same thing this guy was doing.

Didn't know she had this in her.

It may come as a surprise but I think that this song absolutely rocks. I have heard all of Natalie Grant's other radio songs and thought they were good and have been impressed with her vocal abilities but then I heard this song and thought she can rock a little bit too. I'm sure you've heard it on the radio but here is the video form of it.

Update

Just a quick update on the radio thing for tonight. We will now be on the air from 8 to 11 doing the whole show. Check it out and call in your requests at 877-335-4569 thats 877-335-4JOY.

Solid Rockin' Tonight

Well tonight is the last full show of Solid Rock Friday Night until I don't know when and I have at least one guest going with me for tonights show. Zach Moore will be joining me on the mic tonight talking about Locked and Loaded and playing some stuff from some of the bands and just having a good ole' time. Be sure to join us from 9:30 pm til 11:00 pm at 88.9 JOY FM or if you can't pick it up on the ray dee I oh you can listen online at 889joyfm.com.

Found out yesterday that at work we will be putting in some overtime for the next who knows how many weeks and doing Saturdays again for a while. While this is good news from a check standpoint its a bummer having to work half the day on Saturday but I guess we will make due. Busy weekend on tap after work tomorrow hang out for a bit then Taylor and I head over to Winchester to the pool for a birthday party for Hallie Martin, then church on Sunday (worship team practice was alot of fun last night by the way) then leave the church at 3:30 to go back to Winchester to see my buds in Ilia at the Goodrich Park Ampitheater, yeah I didn't know they had one either. Went by it the other day its a little place but it should be fun. If you've never heard of Ilia they are a all girl band from Arkansas who just flat out rock. I'll play something from them tonight. Now if it was only time to go to the station.........

Back after a day off

Enjoyed the day off blogging yesterday, sorry for those of you who wanted a blog but it was nice to take a day off of it. Now back at it. Was reading in Psalms the other night and while reading I'm sure Tammy was getting tired of the "what song is this from" game I was playing. It was cool because one of the verses I read was the basis of the song we did last Sunday, "My Hope Is In You" and then there was another and then there was "give us clean hands and a pure heart" and guess what, we are doing "Clean Hands" this week. I just find that cool. I think that in the 8 or 9 chapters I read there were about 8 or 9 song references.

Heading over to the radio station tomorrow night for the last full Solid Rock Friday Night for a while as high school football takes over on Friday nights. And that means it has been about a year that I've been going over there on a regular basis. Wow time flies. Check it out tomorrow night and I'm sure I'll remind you more tomorrow.

Something I found

I was checking out Stryper's fan message board and found this:

http://withoutwax.tv/2008/07/10/backstage-with-poison/

I hope the link works but I thought it was pretty cool. I'm gonna have to check into this dude some more.

The video is around 6 mins long but it is cool to see especially if you know anything about the guy they are interviewing to see how much he's changed.

What a weekend

Well after a great weekend its time to get back at it I guess, still feeling a little sore in my back but I think its just because I'm old. Thats the problem with getting older is also getting more and more aches and pains. Had alot of fun this weekend hanging out at Locked and Loaded and enjoying the music and the bands. Went to yet another cookout Saturday which was good and enjoyed watching the lightning show in the distance out in the country side of Cowan. Sunday was fun and good, felt sorry for Ryan having to talk on the subject he was talking about but he did a great job again. I know some people get a little tentative at some of the subjects that are preached at FFC but if its in the bible then its fair game. Youth was fun got to throw around the football, have I mentioned I'm so ready to watch some football, and watching a new game that combines kickball and basketball all in one. Pretty fun game to watch. Hope it rains today so I don't have to mow but we will see. Here is yesterday song list.

My Hope Is In You - Thrid Day (getting more and more comfortable with this one)
King Of Glory - Chris Tomlin (first time I've ever played this one)
Oh Praise Him - David Crowder Band* (everytime I hear this one I still think of that video that was shown a few months back)
My Glorious - Delirious (I've always liked this one, tried to rock it up a bit)
Let My Words Be Few - Matt Redman (Been awhile on this one)
Mighty To Save - Hillsong (I really dig this one)
It Is Well - Horitio Somethingorother (This one was loud)

Locked and Loaded show

What a great show, we only had 11 bands, 2 of them had to go home for various reasons so the other 11 came and rocked us. Had a small crowd, of course I was hoping for alot more but the bands still gave everything and enjoyed rocking out with us. All of the bands were good and it being the last night of the tour some craziness happened like during the openers set, Pilot For Kite, during the last song some of the other bands came and started taking away the drummers set, it was pretty funny. During the next set, Alli and I, someone complained of the noise so we moved the show indoors which was actually cool so it all worked out. Kind of put us a bit behind but we soldiered on. Got to hang out and talk with a few of the bands and really enjoyed the whole show. Today though I am paying for standing for the most part from 9:30 in the morning till around midnight, had a few spells of sitting but my legs and hips are really sore, I'm just old I guess.

One thing that really stands out about last night was the openess of each band who spoke on what they stood for. All to many times now days bands who call themselves christian bands are hard to tell from secular bands. Their music and lyrics are very positive but on stage they don't ever tell you what they stand for, so I applaud each of these bands for sharing their hearts with all of us.

Went out this morning a fixed breakfast for the bands that stayed and got to talk to a couple of them and had alot of fun. Big thanks to Elizabeth, Tonya and the kids, Mom and Dad and of course Tammy and the kids for preparing and serving the food. Last night Tammy and I were talking to Nicki the lead singer of the band Anacey and I knew they were from South Carolina and asked her how close to Anderson SC they were and she said not very far like just a few miles so I asked her if she knew Perry Noble and she goes to his church NEWSPRING. She thought it was funny that people in Indiana knew of her church. If you ever get the chance click on Perry's link at the side of the page and check it out. Good times. Too bad alot of people missed it. Maybe next time.

Locked and Loaded

Tomorrow is the big day for the Locked and Loaded Tour coming to FFC and I am getting excited. Its gonna be cool with 13 bands and a all day kind of show different styles, hanging out meeting new people its just gonna rock. As a bonus it will be a day off of work to be out there early to help get all things ready. It will also be a late evening but thats alright. I know we have done alot of promoting for the event with 3 different radio stations, giving away tickets on JOY FM, Remedy FM and getting the word out there however we could. I would love to see a couple of hundred people there it should be a great day with temps in the mid to upper 70's and as of now no chance of rain. Come on out and hang out with us and enjoy the music and people and most importantly seeing what God is doing in the lives of these bands and those who attend.

Why is it

Coming in this morning and I've been noticing it for a few days but thought I'd ask or enlighten the readers to this little question. Why is it that gas at 32 and Country Club road has been $3.79 the first 2 days of the week and now is $3.89 but just a few miles down the road on McGalliard and Walnut its been $3.69 all week. And why is it that the temp at 32 and C. Club is lets say 68 deg and a few miles down the road at McGalliard and Oakwood the bank says its 73 deg, is there that much of a heat wave on the northwest side of Muncie that isn't on the southeast side. Just one of those little things that intrigue me, hey that was the word of the day yesterday.

Try again

I tried doing another you tube video thing here and for some reason it doesn't want to cooperate so I will move on. I was posting a video of a song I heard again yesterday, I was sitting at the computer at home playing some, and I know I'll spell this wrong, Majong titans or something like that. It is a game with all these tiles that you have to match up if they have a side open, its one of those addictive games that I can play for hours. So I had the media player on playing some music and I was playing the game when this song came on. Now I've heard it quite a few times and the worship team used to play it every once in a while a few years ago and I always liked it but it never connected like it did last night. It was one of those where I listened to it 2 or 3 times right in a row and each time same impact. It made me realize how crazy God is for me / us and that like the song says I'd do anything to be with you. He will go to any lengths to be with us, why then do we sometimes go to great lengths not to be with Him. Anyway the song is by Third Day and it is from the Chronology One cd and its a new mix of the song called LOVE SONG. So without further ado here it is.

Lyrics:
I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Chorus:
Just to be with you, I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'd give anything
I would give my life away.

I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
How may times has he broken that promise
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

Repeat chorus

(Bridge)
I know that you don't understandthe fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.
Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away.

Sunday song list

It was good to get back up in front and play again, been 3 weeks and I missed seeing all the bright smiling faces and people letting loose in worship. Nate did a great job again today. We are blessed to have 3 different worship leaders who alot of times don't get applauded for their efforts but I want to say thanks to all 3 of them and everything they put into each Sunday. Here is a look at the songs from yesterday:

Everyday - Hillsong (nice easy 4 chord rock song, have to watch the chorus though as the first 2 chords switch)
Holiness - Sonicflood (Been awhile since we've done this one)
Come Thou Fount - Robert Robinson (Song goes over well and now that Jadon Lavik has a hit with it on the radio I think more people know it)
Blessed Be Your Name - Matt Redman wrote it Tree 63 made it a hit (One of the first songs that I learned to play where I don't need the music to follow along with)
We Fall Down - Chris Tomlin/Kutless (Always have to watch myself in the chorus with a couple of chords that are quick chords as I call them)
You Are My King (Amazing Love) - Newsboys (Another blast from the past)
Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing) - Brian Doekerson (Another one from the past that we throw in every once in a while)

Good songs and alot of fun. Youth was fun as well last night and I am getting excited for this Friday and the big show. Hey I'm on the radio right now. Pretty weird hearing myself on the radio, never heard myself on there before. Went to lunch at Carlos O'Kellys after church yesterday, love that place, with Tammys brother and his wife and youngest. It was good to have them at church yesterday and they are saying they will be back next Sunday as well. Was very impressed at the amount of kids at Mega Sports Camp and how eager they were to listen and have some fun. If you haven't noticed we have a cool church and an Awesome God.

Waiting for this thing to catch up.

Earlier today I posted 2 videos to the blog here and they have yet to show up. So at some point today there should be a music video and a video from TV last night. I won't say anymore than that so enjoy, if they ever get posted here.
