John Petrucci

One of my guitar heroes, the dude has got amazing chops and I haven't ever heard him play anything bad. The only thing I don't like about him and all my heroes for that matter is how they make it look so easy. It looks so easy and effortless, ah someday.

Possibilities?

There is a cool opportunity on the horizon and I will let you know what is up hopefully later today if not tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked about this. I see where I am closing in on my 300th post, wow I've done almost a years worth in a bit over a year if that makes sense. One last thing, every morning this week as I'm coming in at Stoops there by the mall they've had a van parked on the sidewalk for something but the only thing that runs through my mind is the quote, "If you don't like my driving, stay off the sidewalk." I wish I had a camera to take a picture and post with this it would have made it that much cooler.

Stuff

It is amazing the amount of stuff we collect over the years and why we hang on to some of it is beyond me. We are in the process of cleaning out the garage and to get stuff ready for the big town rummage here in a couple of weeks and I am finding: A- We got alot of stuff that we haven't used or for that matter even thought of for quite sometime, B- The kids have accumulated alot of toys, most of which served a quick purpose then off to the garage to be forgotten about, i.e. hot wheels tracks. C- I found 2 boxes full of videotapes, most of them are 15 to 20 years old. I think the only thing I used to tape was Headbanger's Ball on MTV and (insert night of the week here) Thunder from ESPN where they used to broadcast races from Winchester, IRP, Salem and other local tracks. I bet there are tapes that I recorded then have never watched. I thought about popping one in but I'm half afraid because the tape will probably snap. I do have a nice collection of different wrecks, flips and various other racing highlights. Why do we hang on to such things? If you ever figure it out let me know.

I did get to make a cd for one of Taylors classmates who has been a frequent visitor to The Slam aka Jr. High Youth. She had a list of songs and I put some more in took some away and ended up with a 2 cd set for his listening pleasure full of some good christian rock for him to check out from Kutless, Demon Hunter, Disciple, Red, Pillar, and many more. I dig making those types of cds for people to check out different music, now I need to get one ready for the youth worship team with some song ideas to get that rolling.

Stellar Kart - Life Is Good Music Video

Try something a little different here. Over the next few days and or weeks I'll be posting videos of songs that I think would be cool to do on Sundays. Alot of these will be stuff the Youth worship team will be doing but I don't see why we couldn't do them on any given Sunday. This would be a fun one to start off service with, esp. when the middle part gets going we could split the congregation in two with one side saying "Life is good" and the other responding with "Eternal life is better" it could be a blast.

The weekend that was

Why do the weekends seem to just fly by? Had fun Friday night as you can see in the previous post and then again on Saturday. Saturdays at the station are different as all the songs are allready entered in and I just plan the breaks and what to talk about, and speaking of that there are times when I have it all planned out and when it comes time I forget some of what I was going to say, oh well. The 3 hours seem to just fly by as well, I finally got comfortable this weekend with when a song starts to have it turned down just a bit while talking over it then turning it up after I'm done talking. Lots of fun doing the radio thing and now I'm counting down til the next time I'm over there which is the 16th of May.

Yesterday was good and I really dug hearing the testimony about Ron from the gideon speaker, God works in situations and in people that we would say theres no way but hearing that just makes my day. The dance team from Whites did a incredible job as well and I think it was really cool when they came up there during the first set and helped get the congreation involved, that was totally unplanned and that is why it was cool. The singing was pretty loud up there yesterday and looks like people really got into it.

I really enjoyed watching the Talledega cup race yesterday even if Tony didn't win but it was a good race and let the streak continue for Dale Jr. Those last 20-30 laps where just insane with the 3 and 4 wide in the corners and sometimes 5 wide on the straightaways at almost 200 mph, don't tell me that racing isn't a sport, if you think it isn't then get your butt out there in the middle of all that and then tell me that of course after you change your pants. Youth was fun and relaxed with a Nertz tournament and some ice cream. Now back to work.......poop.

Sunday set list:
Everlasting God - Chris Tomlin/Lincoln Brewster
Holy Is The Lord - Chris Tomlin
Better Is One Day - Matt Redman/Kutless
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) - Chris Tomlin
How Great Is Our God - Chris Tomlin
Agnus Dei - Micheal W. Smith/Third Day

Another good night at SRF

It was another good night over at the JOY FM studios and Solid Rock Friday, I got a couple of requests while I was there and had a few before I even left Farmland. Got to give away a cd and just had an all around good time. Pink put in a request at the FFC Family Fun Night so I told him I'd start the show off with it, I almost mentioned his beating, I mean his oh so close defeat in the ping pong tournament but I refrained from doing so. Had a great bannana split out there and I could have eaten a few more of them but I'll wait. Lots of kids and people and looked like a fun time was had by everyone, great job Pastor Tonya.
Heres the list for tonight with various comments:

Leeland - Count Me In (For Pink, and mark my words these guys are going to be huge in the next few years.)
Disciple - Game On (Requested in the previous hour but I played it.)
Stellar Kart - Innocent
Dizmas - Play It Safe
TobyMac - Boomin' (For Tyson and his bud William)
Demon Hunter - Fading Away (For Taylor, did I mention my kids ROCK)
Kutless - Sea Of Faces (Requested by Coby, told her I didn't have it so we found another Kutless tune then I looked on the computer and we had it so I played it.)
Skillet - Live Free Or Let Me Die (Requested by Hallie M. earlier in the afternoon)
Showbread - Your Owls Are Hooting
Pillar - Turn It Up (Requested by Logan C. from Modoc, he wanted Third Day didn't have any so he asked for some bluegrass, almost hung up but talked him into some Pillar)
Spoken - When Hope Is All You Have
Red - Breathe Into Me (For Tammy, my wife ROCKS too, gave away a cd and our friend Ginger won)
The Classic Crime - The Fight (That song rocks, I dig it)
Fireflight - You Decide (See above statement)
Bride - End
Guardian - Co'mon Rock (Great cover of a great Stryper tune)

Good show thanks to all who listened and or called in, we'll do that again in 3 weeks, if you like mellower music I'll be over there tomorrow, Saturday from noon to 3 join me if you can. Big props to Naomi Miller who hooked us up with 5 cds of newer rock songs for the whole SRF crew.

Few tidbits

The Dove Awards were pretty cool last night, good to see TobyMac win artist of the year, don't tell Taylor though she doesn't know yet. The only bad thing about it was I personnally wasn't too impressed with the performances, there were a couple that were good but there were alot more that weren't that impressive. Had fun with Naomi Miller from JOY FM over at the house and told her not to laugh when she pulls my name out to win the 10 cd's she is giving away today. Tammy lovingly gave up her TV night so that we could watch the awards, thanks sweetheart.

It was a great night to sit out on the porch and wait for the show, nice little breeze and just a good night. Shameless plug, if you ever get the chance to have Papa Murphys Hawaiian pizza do it cause it rocked. Looking forward to a little worship team practice tonight and it has been requested that we have another guitar spin so I've been practicing again and we will have to see when it would be a good time to bust it out again.

Farmland Friends made the radio again

Today on JOY FM on the Workday Wrap-up with Naomi Miller she has a segment everyday around 3:50 called good news for a change and today she mentioned our Compassion Sunday from this weekend and the fact that we had Shaun Groves here and that 71 children were sponsored and that means countless lifes have been changed. Thought that was pretty cool.

Dove Awards tonight

Tonight on the Gospel Music Channel is the 39th annual GMA Dove Awards. You might be asking yourself what's that? It is the christian music version of the Grammys and this is the first year that they have ever shown it live. Normally they tape it and a month or two later some channels pick it up and show it in a condensed version. Gospel Music Channel has been showing a show and today will be showing them all day called best of the Doves and it has been cool to go back and see some of these artists and moments in the show. I really enjoyed a couple of years ago when Kutless was on there doing Shut Me Out complete with guitar spins and rockin' just a cool moment. That show also had one of the coolest endings as well, normally at events like this they go out with a big spectacular bang but this went out with a bigger bang. I tried to find it on You Tube but couldn't find it but it was the first time I ever heard this version and brought it to worship team practice and we still do it today. They ended that show with Chris Tomlin doing How Great Is Our God with the How Great Thou Art part in there. They start out with HGIOG and brought it up to speed and people were singing and praising then they slow it down with HGTA and the band stops playing then Chris stopped playing and slowly backed off the mic and the crowd was just singing away and next thing you know the band and him are walking off the stage but the audience is still singing HGTA chorus and that is how the show ended. Gives me chills just thinking about it and I am not a big Tomlin fan but that was cool.

We are going to have a guest come over and watch them with us, Naomi Miller from Joy Fm is coming over to watch them with us so that will be fun, she has helped me out over there with the radio side of things so I thank her for that. Speaking of the radio yes I will be back over there Friday night from 10-11 and then again on Saturday from noon to 3 so check it out.

Compassion roll call

Just for the fun of it I thought it would be cool to do a little roll call here if you either sponsored a child this weekend or are allready sponsoring a child through Compassion. Just jot or type your name and your childs first name and where they are from. We had Teshale from Ethiopia and now we have Lehki (sp) from India. Feel free to join in and even if you didn't sponsor a child or are not able to there are still many ways to help these children through donations for nets which I hope continues there at the church. There are more packets on the way for those of you who want to sponsor but couldn't or didn't this weekend and if I'm not mistaken we will still have a table set up for the next few weeks.

Check out Shlog

Saw Shaun Groves blog this morning and he had a recap yesterdays event and a cool pic of him and Shelby from after lunch. So head over to Shlog and check it out. I'd put a link but my computer saviness has left the building so just click on the link on the side of the page and wallah your there.

Still blows my mind.

After a good nights sleep it still blows my mind that we got 71 children sponsored yesterday. I never would have guessed that number. When we got the packets in (40) I was wondering is it too many, is it not enough just didn't know. I do remember thinking it would be too cool to be able to get all 40 kids sponsored. Well we did that and more and I am still blown away. It is so funny that the last series was titled WAIT because that is what we did with Compassion Sunday and now I know why. When we started sponsoring we got an email at the begining of the next year (2006) about Compassion Sunday and we thought it would be cool so we brought that idea out to church and the time wasn't right. We did put those brochures out and now I know that 1 of those led to sponsorship. The ball was rolling, now fast forward to last year and the idea of Compassion Sunday was brought up again and this time it was a go. The original plan was for members to speak on the children they sponsored and then a message on it. That all changed a couple of weeks ago when Tammy Sorenson read a blog of an individual who said they would come for no charge to speak on Compassions behalf and play a few songs. She shot us an email about it and Tammy C. took the ball and ran with it.

When this all started I never imagined it would have this big of an impact, all I know is it was a God thing. We started thinking it would be a sucess if 10 kids were sponsored never imagining 71, I can just see God up there thinking "You guys were aiming too low." Yesterday was just incredible, from the testimonies to Shaun sharing to all the people who flooded the tables afterwards. It is just too cool to be able to sit back and watch God move. We were able to sponsor another child this time a girl from India who is 10 years old, Taylor has a new pen pal.

Lunch afterwards was fun, they need to put a Qdoba's out here by the shop, and talking with Shaun was like you've known each other forever. He has an incredible mission and heart for these kids and I thank him for sharing with us.

I also found out that I am getting old last night. Played a little dodgeball with the jr. high youth and got a little wore out. Got home and places were hurting that haven't hurt in awhile and this morning they still hurt so I'm gimping around here, I should know better but its too fun playing those kind of things. Here is yesterdays abbriviated set:

I Am Free - Newsboys
My Glorious - Delirious
Grace Like Rain - Todd Agnew

I feel the earth move under my feet

Heard we had a little earthquake this morning between 5:30 and 6:00, I wouldn't know cause I was driving into work. I was at the ATM this morning and thought I felt the car move but thought it was just running rough but now who knows could have been a as Family Force 5 puts it "10.0 on the ricter scale, shake it like an earthquake move your tail."

I am getting excited about Sunday and all the possibilities that lie ahead. I'm excited I'm nervous I'm pumped all rolled into one. Hope and pray that the place is packed and in the words of Perry Noble people get messed up when we are talking about Compassion. I really feel that God is going to be moving this weekend in a big way and I am thankful to have a little part in it. Looking forward to talking about our child, Teshale, but also nervous about speaking in front of people, maybe I'll bring my guitar and keep spinning it around while I talk. Looking forward to hearing Shaun play and share his heart for Compassion International and then stepping back and watching God move, its gonna be awesome. I am ready to hear others stories in the coming months of the children that they sponsor.

Got to play Paul Bunyun last night as we finished the job that the electric company started last year. The cut half the tree why didn't they just cut it all down. Its down now and we have to get rid of the limbs and all now and then get the stump pulled. Gonna miss that tree but it looks better now instead of half a tree. When we first moved there we could walk over it then it just took off. Spent alot of last night researching online some artists for later this year, this promoting thing is alot of fun and when something is ever made official we will be sure and let you know.

More PK and Pink ping pong video

Since the last video had Pink getting the point I thought it was only fair to show PK winning a point. Pink (in the blue) had him running but PK stood strong and got the point. I tried to add commentary but had my microphone on the wrong setting so it sounds like jibberish, have to work on that. Enjoy.

PK and Pinks Ping Pong Match from today

I was able to sneak a camera into the Family Life Center and caught PK and Pinks ping pong match today. They are some incredible players with mad skills. They are both light on their feet and can do some amazing moves. Enjoy.

Slipped my mind

It slipped my mind but Friday night Tammy and I went to a place at Ball State called the Launching Pad to see our nephew Tyler and his band Fake.Is.The.Latest.Trend play. This is a small little place that has opened up for local bands to come play. It was pretty cool watching him and his band play their first ever paying gig. Even though he is only 15 he can play a mean guitar. It was fun helping them load in set up and tear down and hopefully we will get to see them more as they start playing more and more.

Got to check out all the packets that Compassion sent yesterday, they sent 40 of them for our Compassion Sunday and I was wondering if we could run out of packets this weekend, that would be cool. Don't fear if we run out there are sheets to sign up and Compassion will send you a packet of your choice. I'm praying that God moves people to open up and help out these kids and give them hope. Did I mention that Shaun Groves is going to be here, Tammy has done a fantastic job with all of that and I have a feeling that she won't be sleeping much Saturday night as she will be too excited about Sundays activities. Tammy and I will be speaking at the 8:30 service about our sponsored child Teshale. I would love to see the place packed out for both services and I have a feeling that this is gonna be big.

Tammy starts her new job today so if you can throw a prayer up for her nerves, she is a bit nervous about the whole new job thing but I know she'll do just fine.

Skillet - Savior

Here is a little something from Saturdays concert. Around 45 seconds they do a crowd shot and you can see myself, the one just standing there in the white t-shirt in my normal concert pose, Tammy beside me then Taylor, Coby, and Pink jammin out. The yellow hat is Kehoe and the red one is Parkison. Hallie is in the row behind us with Eric's head for a brief second. We're famous on You Tube.

Fun on the weekend

Had alot of fun this weekend with second Saturday serve, then the concert, church on Sunday and then youth Sunday night. I could have done without the sinus headaches though both days but did get a couple of good naps this weekend. At second Sat. Tyson and I helped with the dismantling of the KidZone, I got to use my vast knowledge of working with tools (wheres the instructions). That was fun to help out like that and I hope the church that picked the setting up gets alot of good use out of it like we did. Took a little nap then off to the concert. Had a good time on the way there with the fellows in the van except for the Backstreet Boys cd they put in for a few, I don't think Pink's cd player will ever be the same. Bad thing was is the 4 in the back were singing right along and then even sang more at the concert, just glad they didn't get up on stage. Show was good except for the fact that some of the crowd decided they wanted to start shoving each other and not really caring about if you wanted to join or not to which a few people who shoved into me got a few elbows thrown in their side and at one point I had to bust out the blocking out skills as Tammy and Taylor were to my right in front of me then I ended up on the other side of Taylor so I gave a big block out to move them out of the way. As Perry Noble would say for a minute I forgot I was a christian and violence entered my mind but then I didn't think it would be too cool to get kicked out of the show and have to wait outside for it to end so we went back to our seats and watched Skillet from there.

Yesterday was cool as well with the worship and message, I think this WAIT series was a homerun. Musically there were things we did that was fun trying to keep up with Pink at the end with the altars still full. I think that God was doing a little work with some people. Youth was fun, I really enjoy working with the students and getting some relationships built. Played a little 4 square which was a blast. Who would think that something that you did as a kid would still be fun 30 some years later.

SUNDAY set list:

Better Is One Day - Matt Redman (I'm used to the Kutless version)
Holy Is The Lord - Chris Tomlin
Everlasting God - Chris Tomlin / Lincoln Brewster (Wish I could play like LB)
How Great Thou Art - Stuart Hine
Agnus Dei - Micheal W. Smith (I like the Third Day version myself)
Come Thou Fount - Robert Robinson
How Great Is Our God - Chris Tomlin

Worship team practice

Last night practice was just a bit different than normal but I dig that. Normally we get there at various times around 7 plug in or turn the mics on do a little sound check with each individual instrument and microphone then kind of all together to see where the sound is. Then prayer is usually next followed by a brief rundown of anything out of the ordinary going on Sunday then off to the songs. Sometimes we tweak a song sometimes we just go through it and on to the next one. Songs done, practice over time to unhook or what I like to do, rock out for a few minutes, the guitar sounds just echo around the room for a bit and it sounds so cool. Pack up say goodbye and see ya Sunday or a quick chit-chat then out the door. Last night however Pink had some cds for us of the songs to listen to so we were kind of hanging around waiting for them and talking then see ya all and headed for the door. There were 3 of us ready to brave the elements when another member asked us to come back in and pray with them for a family member, no problem. All I got to say is WOW, that was incredibly cool to all come together at the altar and lift the family and situation up to God for Him to use for His glory. I like moments like these when we are all on the same page.

When we were waiting for the cd's I asked what was on them and Pink said just the songs we are doing this week so I told him I allready have them and we talked about cd collections and music collections on various media things. By the way we have over 200 cds and on my media player at work there is 108.5 hours of music on there from 78 different artists and some various cd's like the WOW series and some worship stuff. Today I will be having a Decyfer Down, Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet fest as I get ready for tomorrow nights show. I have over 4 hours worth of music from them, half of it is TFK. Ready to rock.

I also got on JOY FM's site and see that they are halfway to their goal on sharathon and they have it broken down on communities and I was saddened to see that only 2 pledges from P-Town Down and 1 from Farmville, mine. Come on people lets give them a little help to keep good positive music in our area.

Funny how God works sometimes

God never ceases to amaze me and what He is doing in my life and in todays case my family's life. At the end of last year Tammy got a job at the BMV Processing plant that was a blessing and then I think turned into a lesson. During her tenure there I think our focus turned from where it should be to somewhere where it shouldn't be. So Tammy left that job and was going to stay at home for awhile, I have really enjoyed that having her home and even took a couple days off to hang out with her. She has been struggling with whether or not she should go back to work and finally she gave it all up to God and wouldn't you know it within a few days she recieved a job offer that was going to be pretty cool, she could stay at home and watch a couple of kids and she was ready to take it when a call from a friend of ours changed everything. This friend has a brother who is a distributor of racing parts and such and he was stuggling getting stuff done because he was always on the phone or going here and there so he needed someone to help in the office. He called his sister and said he needed Tammy to come help so she called Tammy up and the rest is history. She goes today to check the place out and find out when she starts and all. This is definately a God thing how it came so quickly. Its funny too that I have just recently "retired" from the racing business and now she is getting into it.

No title available again

Just a few tidbits for today, first up JOY FM's spring sharathon starts today and runs through Friday. They are doing it differently this year where instead of one big sum for the six months they are doing it a month at a time and by that I mean they are trying to get people to support the station monthly instead of a one time pledge if I'm not mistaken. So if you feel so led be sure to help them out. Not just saying this because I help out over there but it has been a real blessing having a local christian music station to listen to at home or in the car going somewhere but it is great not to have to worry about what the kids are hearing like on other stations.

Stopped out by the high school and watched a few innings of the JV baseball teams game against Union City last night. Got to see Adam Parkison smack a two run double to get a big 3rd inning rally going where MC ended up scoring 8 runs that inning, didn't get to see Samon play because had to be home by 6 so Tammy could head out to a friends house for some exercising. It was fun and I plan on doing it again sometime.

The countdown is on for the Skillet/TFK/Decyfer Down show Saturday, from what I've read it is going to be loud, the louder the better, and I'm sure its gonna rock. Probably hang out afterwards to say hey to the bands if no one has to be home early. That is one of the coolest things about christian concerts the bands always seem to make their way out to the merch tables to hang out and talk with people for a while after the show. Just a few short days and it will be on.

Welcome back old friend

Last night Tammy and I got to do something we haven't been able to do for months, we got to sit out on the porch for a while and watch traffic. Got the chairs down out of the attic, cleaned them off then out to the porch for a good hour or so just hanging with the wife enjoying the evening. I love winter, I know I'm not right, but I am glad to have the nice weather back. I actually like all 4 seasons so I'm cool with living here. But I am ready to be able to go out in shorts and a t-shirt and do whatever outside. Got some golf lined up for sometime this spring-summer with some of the youth so that will be fun. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is mowing the yard but I'll do it anyway.

Sunday set list and notes

Here is a quick rundown of the songs from yesterday:

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Daniel Baker
Make A Joyfun Noise - David Crowder Band*
My Savior My God - Aaron Shust
40 - U2
Give Us Clean Hands - Charlie Hall
Just As I Am - Daniel Baker
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus - Helen H. Lemmel (chrous of the hymm)

Decent set and I am a sucker for this and it happened twice yesterday and that is when we stop playing and all you hear is the congregation singing, it was really loud during Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, I just dig those times. Good message again yesterday, I really like this series. One thing I was thinking of yesterday was why do we TEST God when we should TRUST in Him. I am just as guilty as anyone. It is so easy to bring our list of good deeds followed by our list of wants and needs. How many times have you or I said "well I went to church this week now wheres my....." I thought of this yesterday and it is instead of TEST take out the E and you have T ST and replace it with a RU which then makes TRUST but it also poses a question RU trusting? I want that answer to always be yes.

Youth was fun with the surprise shower for the Vickerys, they are and have been a vital part of the YG for a few years and their time and dedication is greatly appriciated. And I realized last night why I don't play basketball much anymore last night as we had a quick game and what I mean by quick was it lasted less than 10 minutes and I was done for awhile, old man needs his rest. It was fun playing sound effects during the games and present opening. Busted out the Jepordy theme when they were doing a word scramble game and then the Pink Panther theme during another game. Just having a little fun.

Fridays Song List

Had alot of fun tonight at Solid Rock Friday Night, got to do an hour and a half instead of just an hour. Got like 9 requests tonight which is unheard of and for about a 10-15 min stretch I had 6 or 7 calls from Winchester, Union City, Farmland, Upland and St. Henry, OH. Gave away a cd and like an idiot I never mentioned the winner, it was Megan Bergham from Taylor University in Upland. Here is the list of songs:

I Found Forever - Fighting Instinct
Razor - Decemberadio
Inspiration - Sanctus Real
I Love You To Death - Family Force 5 (Requested from Union City)
Something To Believe In - FM Static
Spy - Tait
Dancin' In Heaven - Whitecross
Procrastinating - Stellar Kart
This Is It (You Instead Of Me) - Jonah 33
Fiction - Kids In The Way (Requested by Tammy before I left home)
We Shine - Fee (Requested by Jennifer for Pink, and no sooner did I take the headphones off Pink called to say hey and request some Skillet)
Molotov - Project 86 (Some dude called and wanted Showbread, didn't have any, Emery, didn't have any, Devil Wears A Parada, you guessed it didn't have any, so I gave this song to him. Its a bummer not to have what someone wants.)
Move - Thousand Foot Krutch (Requested by Taylor for Jennifer)
Rewind - Pillar (Requested by a girl at Taylor U. in Upland)
Extreme Days - TobyMac (Requested by Tyson for his friend William who is spending the night, except he didn't hear his name, more on that in a bit)
I Am Understood - Relient K (Requested by a lady in St. Henry, OH)
Savior - Skillet (Requested by Pink)
Nebulous - Manic Drive
Why Don't You Look Into Jesus - Holy Soldier remake of a Larry Norman song.
None To Lady Like - ApologetiX (Requested for William again, gave away a cd, which I didn't mention the winners name)
Soloution - Hillsong United (Meant to talk about Compassion Sunday but spaced it, I'm such a dork)
Intermission To The Moon - A Dream Too Late
Burn It Down - Jonezetta

Pretty good show, I thought it rocked, my wife thinks differently, guess I play some Demon Hunter and Mortification in a couple weeks to bring up the heaviness. Thanks to all those who listen and if you missed it I'll be back on in 3 weeks on April 25 from 10-11 pm.

Radio Update

A quick update, it seems that I will not be on the radio from 10-11 tonight, instead I will be on from 9:30-11 pm. So tune in and rock out with me. I am also trying my hand tonight after work in the automotive mechanic realm, the Sable has had issues here lately and last Saturday we got home from the store and I heard a hissing sound (never good) and smelled anti-freeze, then as I got to the door I noticed that there was a puddle forming under the car. I checked back later and the puddle was bigger and the coolant in the overflow tank was bone dry. Come to find out it is leaking from the overflow tank in a few places so I've got a new one ordered and will try my hand at fixing it tonight. If you know anything about me you'll know that my mechanical inclined skills don't even register on the chart. So I told Tammy that I'd give it a shot but don't be surprised if we are looking for a new car next week, which got a good laugh then a quick NO. I know if I get in over my head I'll give Heavy B a call, he seems good at fixing things.............

A friendly little reminder

Just a little reminder that tomorrow night from 10-11 I'll be doing the Solid Rock Friday Night thing at JOY FM so tune in and rock out with me. It's 88.9 on your FM dial or listen online at 889joyfm.com. I'll let you know how it all goes on this end, I am ready to get back over there and have a little fun. Ready for the Skillet/TFK/DD show a week from Saturday, it is going to be so cool. That will also be 2 more bands to add to the ever growing list of bands I've seen and there will be a post in the future about said list.

Remember when

Here are a few things I've been thinking about from the past see if you "Remember When."

Remember when you used to get stickers on every tape, cd, or album you would buy at your local christian retailer to "buy 4 get 1 free?" They would take the sticker off the free one too so it was more like 5, wish they still did that. I was always get a chuckle out of the fact that on the sticker they said the cash value was like 1/32 of a cent but yet 4 of them equaled $10 to $15 credit. Go figure

Remember when Connie and JD Akers had a christian book store in Muncie? Purchased a few items in there. It was in the shops on Granville right next to Noble Romans. Which leads to....

Do you remember Noble Romans? I miss the deep dish scilian or how ever you spell it.

Do you remember Burger Chef and Jeff and their flat hamburgers? Ah the original fun meal with the little tray and toy.

Remember when Muncie basically ended at Target on Bethel. No Wal-Mart, Meijier, Toys-R-Us basically nothing past the old Target.

Remember any of these from our good ole' hometown of Farmland, Fosters Shoe Store, Mains Mens Wear, The Pool Hall, Bailey's then Inky's before the Moose, Bears Den Pizza, McIntyre Furniture, Ludwigs, Michelle's, Tri-Joes, Newtons Shell, Union 76 station, Point Pantry, and finally the I & H Cafe? Some of the buildings are still standing but with different tenants in them now.

Remember when you went to elementary school at either Parker or Farmland then met up with each other in 7th grade?
Remember when the library was where the police station is now?

Remember when gas was under a dollar a gallon?

And finally remember when kids actually played outside just about all day, no playstations, no computers, no Wii's, no cable or satillite tv, actually going outside and entertaining themselves.

Yeah I do, but then again I'm old.

Exciting News

As you know myself and a few friends got together to put a band together a few months ago but it did not work out and we just couldn't seem to all find a time to get together and things were crazy with all kinds of activities occupying my time so I had to step down. I have always wanted to be in a band situation and no matter how nervous I get on Sunday I think the more I play the easier it will be especially when the crowd is screaming and singing and you feed off of them. So alas we are gonna give the band thing another go. They are a great bunch of people and the songs are just simply amazing in my mind and I can't wait for you to hear them. This is a great time in my musical life from that standpoint but from another standpoint relocation might be necessary, more than likey Nashville as it is now the music capitol. If we want to get label recognition that is the place to be, maybe we can get a deal, get some music out and go out on tour. When we come around all of you are welcome to be my guests and check us out. I think we will have some good connections down south and if it all goes well this thing should take off. Its kind of crazy to be starting this at almost 40 years old but your only as old as you feel right? So be on the look out for one of the coolest, rockingest and bestest bands on the planet. I will keep you updated on all of the happenings in our little world with the new project which is going to be called Ape Real FoelZ Dae.
