Hand Them Over

That is a song title of one of the first songs I ever wrote. It comes from a sermon that Pastor Kris did 3 years ago on Easter. In one of his examples he was saying that when Christ died on the cross the devil and his goons were probably all down in hell just living it up thinking that they had won, high fiving each other and celebrating what they thought was a victory. Little did they know what was about to happen. This song is written from the devil's perspective for the verses then I bet you can guess whose perspective the chorus is from. I showed this to Ryan a few months ago and he got chills reading the lyrics, I got the music now all we need to do is tweak it in and make it happen. Musically it starts off with what I call an erie little bass riff then the keyboards come in then guitar and drums building for the chorus. So without further ado here it is

I threw everything I had at You but You would never break
I offered you the world but that You wouldn't take

Now Your up on that cross for the whole world to see
Your body beaten and broken, dead as dead can be

This is my finest hour the victory is mine
Now that You're out of the way I'll rule for all time

Something isn't quite right, it's starting to turn bright
I see the figure of a man holding out his hand
No this cannot be I watched You die on that tree
The holes in Your hands I see and You calmly say to me...

Hand them over
The keys to death and hell
Hand them over
The powers of darkness have just fell
Hand them over
Give me the keys
Hand them over
Set the captives free

The chorus then repeats with a little echo on the hand them over part. I think it can be a pretty cool song like I said just have to tweak it here and there and maybe someday we will play on a Sunday, that would probably throw people off saying "here's a song from the perspective of the devil...."
